چکیده مقاله:

Hydrophobic polysulfone (PSf) membrane was prepared by phase inversion method and modifiedby coating of polydopamine nanolayer on the membrane surface based on the self-polymerization and strongadhesion characteristic of dopamine in wet and alkaline condition. The effect of polydopamine nanolayer onsurface roughness was investigated by Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and the surface hydrophilicity ofmembranes was studied by water contact angle (CA) measurements. The experimental data indicated thathydrophilicity of membrane is extremely improved by polydopamine nanolayer. It was found that theroughness of the surface significantly increases after polydopamine nanolayer coating from ca. 4 nm to 18nm. It was also found that the surface property change is in contrast with coating of other membrane such aspolyethersulfone, as reported in the literature. This revealed that the effect of polydopamine nanolayer coatingon the surface roughness depends on porosity and pore size of the original membrane.
