Synthesis and antimicrobial effects of a novel Nano composite: CHX and nano chitosan coated with nano silver

Dentistry and endodentistry are taking a great advantage of Chlorhexidine (CHX) Bactericidal ability. What'smore, Nano chitosan (CS) and Ag+ are also known as an attractive antimicrobial bio-compatible compounds withimplications in medicine, biology, pharmacy, dentistry, etc. We wondered if we could multiply the bactericidal effectsby dispersing Ag+ on CHX and then reducing Ag+ to Ag with help of CS. Also CS due to its functional groups has ahydrogen bond with CHX. In doing so a positive synergic effect is demonstrated by our novel compound. The latercompound is fully characterized by ATR (attenuated total reflectance), UV (ultra violet),MS (mass spectroscopy), DLS(dynamic light scattering), Anti-bacterial test and TEM (transmission electron microscope).
