Investigation into the industrial use of nanocomposite coatings

In the last decade, nano-composite coatings have become very popular because of their high toughness and stiffness along with their superior hardness. Superior properties of these coatings make them promising candidates in mechanical and tribological applications. In the present study, some different types of nano-composite coatings are mentioned ; Ni/SiC , Al2O3-xTiO2 ( 0,3,13 and 20% ) , TiN-Sb. Usage of these coatings can have more development in future for oil and gas industries. Nanocomposite, thin films, coatings promise to make products lighter, stronger, electrically conducting or heat-resistant. They may even lead to properties never seen before. Nanocomposite coatings are used when a combination of properties is required that cannot be found in a simple coatings.
