The review of the Persian Gulf Environmental Problems: Role and Function of Iran

The Persian Gulf region PG is one of the most important and sensitive districts of the world due to Environmental dimensions. Despite the growth of the PG states in terms of economy, there has not been coordinated, formulated and effective regulatory policy, law and framework in address to control environmental risks and damages. Hence, the principal objective of this paper is to demonstrate the chief environmental problems in the PG by considering role and function of Iran.By taking advantage of descriptive-analytical method, this paper tries to test the hypothesis that solving PG problems, more than anything, is being influenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran functions as well as the environmental law, policy-making quality. The results indicate that in in spite of other PG states, Iran has been involved so as to promoting the environmental situation in this region, which can lead to the improvement of PG environment and Iran's position amongst Arab states with regard to environmental, legal and political factors
