Factors Influencing Slumming in Saari City

Cities have special problems and issues, most of which are common among cities. Slummingis also seen commonly in many cities of the world. This phenomenon is the result andoutcome of social and especially economic problems and leads to other problems and issuessuch as delinquency. In the present era, urbanism is epidemic, which has led to abandonmentof villages and emergence of slums and crime in cities. These consequences reflect thenecessity of identifying factors contributing to this phenomenon. Slumming is an urbanproblem, which results from several factors such as economic, social, and cultural factors. Ingeneral, two important factors, namely village repulsive force and city attraction, play the keyrole in this process. On the other hand, disorganized and uncontrolled physical expansion ofcities is an urban and urbanism issue in the third world of today. In this process, physicalboundaries and spaces of cities constantly grow in the vertical and horizontal directs bothqualitatively and quantitatively, and if this rapid unplanned trend continues, it will lead to aninappropriate combination of problematic urban spaces. Hence, one of the causes of this trendand one of the most important consequences of this trend is slumming. In metropolises of theworld, especially in developing countries, urban sprawl is increasing exponentially ascompared to other parts of the world, and considering the problems and issues caused by thisphenomenon, it has turned into a developmental challenge for these countries. The objectiveof the present research was to analyze the role of factors influencing slumming in urbanplanning and methods of reducing its resulting problems through field and desk studies usingthe descriptive-analytical approach.
