چکیده مقاله:

The convergence pressure (Pk) notion is useful in correlating equilibrium ratios, and has significant importance in the study of phase equilibria. Several methods exist on this concept and therefore, it is important to understand the applicability of each under different conditions. In this work, a comprehensive review over this subject is carried out; and a compilation of eight major approaches for calculation of Pk is apprised and reviewed with brief descriptions and comments. The method of Hadden is considered suitable for hand calculations, due to its simplicity and acceptable accuracy. Nonetheless, this approach has several problematic restrictions and should not be used for design work or related activities. The methods provided by Rowe and Silberberg, and Lawal and Silberberg give outcomes within an acceptable range without the need for extreme computational work as in EOS methods. From this work a novel comparative study for determination of range of application for convergence pressure techniques for different kinds of hydrocarbon mixtures could be derived, which is notably helpful for other researchers in choosing the most appropriate approach to perform their investigations with more insight.
