Variation of silicate concentration in the Caspian sea coast in Guilan province

The Caspian Sea is located in temperate region, and is strongly influenced by water discharge into it. In order to study anthropogenic effects on silicate concentration, six stations were selected along the Caspian Sea coasts, Guilan province, Iran. Sampling was carried out monthly in summer and autumn (from July through December 2012). Concentration of silicate was measured in each sampling stations. The average concentration of silicate was 0.87±0.7 mg.L-1. Silicate concentration revealed significant difference between Sefidrood estuary and Chaboksar station. It can be concluded that anthropogenic (human) activities result in an increase in the nutrient concentrations along the southern coastal water of the Caspian Sea
