This research has been started soon after Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake of 1995 voluntary to assist Kobe municipality leaded by Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto university, enhanced by a project “Development of Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation
Technologies and Their Integration for the Asia-Pacific Region(EqTAP)” from 1999 to 2004 and a project “Special Project for Earthquake Disaster Mitigation in Urban Areas” from 2002 to 2006 under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the Japanese Government (MEXT).
