Advantages of utilizing geotextile in reinforcement of sandy soils for some engineering purposes

By reason of inadequate strength of soil and movement of soil particles by water flow, it may need to reinforce the soil in order to utilize its engineering properties. One method of soil reinforcement is utilizing the polymer material, especially geotextiles. In this research study the use of polymer materials in order to stabilize and increase the shear strength of sandy soil has been investigated. The results that have been obtained from soil mechanics laboratory show an increase about 40% of shear strength that cause enhancement the side and bottom in channels of conveyance structures and also stabilizing the soil in coastal areas.
