Iran: Developments and Achievements: Scientific and Academic Developments: Cognition of a Human Being: Text of the Sacred Scriptures as the Fabric of Existence

An attempt to interpret geometric pattern on two goblets from the Louvre Collection (Department of Oriental Antiquities: Iran) was made in this article. Goblets, dated approx. between the XIV and XIcentury B.C., are decorated with rosettes made with compasses, winged monsters and bull-men.Comparative analysis of the categorial semantic field of Ancient Iranian, Ancient Chinese and Ancient Indian texts made it possible to develop the model of geometric structure of the Taiji (太極 – the Supreme Ultimate). Resemblance of geometric structures of the Taiji pattern and geometricdecoration on goblets indicates closeness between modes of conceptualizing a model of the universe. A rosette-forming mesh of cells made with compasses is evidence of weaving symbolism. We can observe connections between stylistic peculiarities of the goblets’ ornament and structure of the fabric , its netted texture pattern. Geometric structure of the Taiji pattern corresponds to the model of the universe represented by the Chinese character Zhi (治). Geometric structure of the goblets’ ornament should be interpreted through the Chinese character Luan (亂). Zhi and Luan play therole of oppositions like cosmos and chaos. Zhi represents moral law, implanted in human nature, which he has no right to alter. Luan is an inversely ordered state which is incompatible with the initial state of things taken as a standard. It describes destructive acts which lead to substitution of true for false.
