Analytical Model of Sound Transmisstion through Orthotropic Cylindrical Shells Fulltext

Circular thin orthotropic shells have many application in the Aerospace Industries Such as aircraft. Analytical study is conducted in this paper to understand the characterstis of sound transmission through the ortotropic cylindrical shell. Using an infinitely long circular cylindrical shell subjected to a plane wave with uniform airflow in the external fluid medium, an exact solution is obtained by solveing the classical shell vibration equations and acoustic wave equation simultaneously. Transmission losses obtained from the sloution are compared with “Koval”. Eventualy, the numerical results show the effects of Orthotropy ratio, Fiber direction, geometrical properties, Mach number, material properties.
