خلاصه مقاله:
The condition known as water-hammer problems is, in fact, a transient condition which may occur as a result of the worst-case loadings such as pump failures, valve closures, etc. in the pipeline systems. Such conditions result in high and low pressure waves which travel along the system and decay in the time. To keep transient-state conditions within prescribed limits control devices are usually used. Moreover, Damping the waves and transient behaviors are strongly subject to valve closing law. This paper deals with the effects of the upstream and downstream surge tank and the valve closing law on the transient condition getting help of the method of characteristics (MOC).
