EFFECT OF GRAIN SIZE ON EVAPORATION RATE USING ELECTROHYDRODYNAMICS Fulltext

During last decade many researchers have focused on the application of electrohydrodynamic (EHD) for enhancement of heat and mass transfer. The advantage of this technique is that it can be applied at room temperature and pressure. In this paper the effects of an applied high electric field and cross wind velocity on the evaporation rate from two similar containers have been investigated. Of the two containers one contained
glass powder whereas the other contained glass beads of 3 mm diameter. It is observed that the evaporation rate can be increased up to 5 times especially at low wind speeds. Additionally evaporation rates from the glass powder is considerably higher than that of the glass beads.
