In this paper, the equation of motion for a rotating shaft considering rotary inertia and gyroscopic effects is solved in new method. Combined with distributed-lumped modeling technique (DLMT), a highly accurate model for rotating systems is achieved. Natural frequencies obtained by this method are compared with two other methods, which showed a good conformity between them. The effect of shaft diameter, length and disk inertia in the first frequency is also investigated for various velocities by this method.
