خلاصه مقاله:
Over the past decades, the increasing demand for higher speeds has led to new generations of rail vehicle steel wheels. These are subjected to high loads (normal axle loads and tangential forces) and stresses during their operation life. To carry on such high level of stresses, different steel grades have been developed. These steel wheels are used mainly in two types, i.e. monobloc and tyred wheels, with better mechanical characteristics, including wear and fatigue resistance. To study the factors affecting wheel wear made from high toughness steels, different experiments including field and small scale laboratory tests have been conducted by the authors in a research programme started in 2003. The most recent mechanical results obtained from new test materials of B5T and R7T steel grades are presented here.
