چکیده مقاله:

Among the plethora ways for investigation of dynamic processes,Nuclear Magnetic Resonance has a unique place. Very large number of biological molecules have amide bonds and many pharmaceutical agents and polymeric materials have carbamate bonds, Hindered rotation about partial C–N bond in amides and carbamates has been the subject of substantial investigations. In the case of amides it is well accepted that C–N bond rotation is slow because it involves disruption of a partial double bond. Furthermore, the amide ground state is more polar than the transition state and the rotational barrier (ΔG# ) is increased by structural and environmental factors that favor increased polarity. When the amide oxygen is replaced by sulfur, the amide rotational barriers increase. For analogous amides and thioamides the increase may be as much as 1.2 kJmol-1 although a 0.5-0.7 kJmol-1 increase is more typical. The barriers in thioamides in contrast with amides appear to show a smaller solvent effect. However, for some systems, primarily amides and thioamides, some correlations have been made between structural features and activation parameters.
