THE EFFECT OF BILINGUALISM ON INTERPRETATION ABILITY: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

So many researches are conducted being concerned with different aspects of bilingualism and the effects of bilingualism on different subcategories of critical thinking. The researchers in this study investigated the effect of bilingualism on people's ability to interpret poems, which is a subcategory of critical thinking. A sonnet byHafiz and a researcher-made questionnaire with ten coded items were employed as the instruments of thisstudy. The questionnaire was validated by subject matters experts. 10 monolinguals and 10 bilinguals were recruited as the participants of the study. Based on the findings of this study, the effect of bilingualism on the ability to interpret sonnets was not significant
