perparation of new ultra thin nanoporous membranes for color removal

Three different kinds of ultra-thin membranes were fabricated according to a new route and without using support. For this purpose, three different structures including a mono-layer (M) membrane, a bilayer (B) membrane, and a triple-layer (T) membrane were fabricated on a non-woven polyester. Characteristics and properties of the fabricated thin layers were investigated using filtration set-up and SEM. According to the results, Congo-red rejection capability of the membranes increased sharply from 13.3% for the non-woven to near 96% for triple-layer (T) membrane. Besides, the rejection of non-woven against the Safranin was 7.1% which increased to near 85% for T membrane. SEM images clearly showed a notable alteration in the membrane surfaces and illustrated a dense and compressed polymeric layer on the surface.
