Supplier Selection Process andOutsourcing Risk Management

Supplier selection is the process by which firms identify, evaluate, and contract with suppliers. The supplier selection process deploys a tremendous amount of a firm’s financial resources. In return, firms expect significant benefits from contracting with suppliers offering high value. Outsourcing can be a key enabler to help company across the world deliver better public services in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. To ensure thatthe company can continue to harness the power of outsourcing to achieve cost-effective delivery services, this paper aims to draw insights from both supplier selection process and risk management, as well as existing literature to help company improve their outsourcing strategies. The paper will also introduce additional decision-making tools that may be useful to help participant adopt a more strategic approach towards outsourcing.
