چکیده مقاله:

Little studies have evaluated the transfusion practices and advantages/disadvantages of the RBC transfusion in the post HSCT patients. Alonging with the favorable effects of the RBC transfusion inthis high risk patients such as saving the life, overuse of the RBC transfusion can be life-threating and result in the infectious complications, multi organ failure and increased mortality. Post allo/auto-HSCTpatients need to packed cell transfusion according to their RBC indexes such as RBC count, Hb and Hct concentration. The aim of this study was to assessment of the changes in RBC count and the need of the RBC transfusion in post allo/auto-HSCT patients using random effects model. 100 post allo/auto-HSCT patients (50 women and 50 men, mean age: 42.6± 13.39 and 35.5 ±15.29 years, respectively) in the HSCT department, Taleghani hospital in Tehran, Iran, (from 2007 to 2014) entered into the retrospective study and their RBC count were considered as a response variable. Explanatory variable was disease type. The analysis was performed using random effects model and SAS software. P-value less than 0.05 considered as significance level. The result of this study indicated that disease type (P<0.001) and time trend (P<0.001) had significant effect on changes in RBC count and need to packed cell transfusion after allo/auto-HSCT. We found out that RBC count and need to the RBC transfusion after AHSCT were associated with the type of the disease and time trend
