چکیده مقاله:

Different detrimental mechanisms threaten the life of a reinforced concrete structure. These mechanisms consisting of the ones originating from time dependency of concrete behaviour and the others from environmental effects, increase the vulnerability of the structure to the earthquake motion. In this research, concrete creep and shrinkage and reinforcement corrosion are selected for studying. As a result of reinforcement corrosion, brittle modes of failure such as soft storey formation may substitute for the ductile modes of failure and load carrying capacity decreases. Reduction in energy dissipating capacity in structures as a result of detrimental mechanisms is a challenging issue since ductility is one major demand when an earthquake happens. The major aim of this research is to investigate the effects of time dependent properties of concrete and also environmental issues on the seismic response of RC members and frames. Here numerical investigation has been conducted using a finite element program named COM3. The results were verified using experimental data obtained previously. Cracking, concrete cover spalling, loss of cross sectional area and change in bond strength are some items which have been taken into account. For seismic performance evaluation of the structures, incremental dynamic analysis is done and fragility curves are obtained to represent uncertainties in the analysis.
