In this paper the effects of dimensional and structural parameters on the mechanical properties of monolayer graphene sheets (GSs) and single–walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are investigated. The models employed in this study are based on nonlinear spring elements and carbon atoms as point masses are attached to each node. The effects of dimensional parameters such as length, width, diameter and aspect ratio are investigated separately on the Young's and shear modules. The influence of chirality as structural parameter is examined, too. It is observed that the effects of dimensions in SWCNTs are eliminated after a critical aspect ratio. By increasing the length of GS, Young's module is converged and shear module is decreased. Also, the influences of chirality at in both GSs and SWCNTs are considerable. The results are in good agreement with experimental results and theoretical data
