Application of BET Equation in Wide Range of Gas Phase Adsorbate Concentration

Specific surface area of the solids is evaluated by the classical BET isotherm equation in the partial pressure range of 0.05

BET isotherm equation was elucidated. Subsequently, the original form of BET equation without the critical simplifying assumptions of the authors was reinstated and applied to experimental cases. It was shown that the original form of BET equation has the capability for applications in wide ranges of adsorbate concentrations with more realistic results, especially for evaluation of solid surface area. Comparison of this equation with the GAB equation, which had been developed as a modification for the classical BET equation, showed that the original BET equation has all capabilities and advantages expected from GAB equation along with its more conceptual theoretical basis.
