Investigation of Filtration Capability of Conductive Composite Membrane in Separation of Protein from Water

Dead-end stirred cell devices are commonly used in laboratories to characterize ultrafiltration membranes and their separation behavior. In the present study we have coupled conducting polypyrrole with PM30 ultrafiltration membrane by chemical polymerization. The performances of the prepared membranes were characterized by filtration of BSA solution through the membrane in various pHs. For conductive membranes, higher rejection was observed in pH = 8 than that of non-conductive membranes. The rejection of BSA was negative in pH = 2.
