چکیده مقاله:

A Hybrid hydrate-membrane CO2 capture process was designed and simulated for CO2 removal from a simulated flue gas stream (17 mol% CO2 + 83 mol% N2). The process is compromised from three hydrate formation and dissociation stages and two membrane separation stages. Hydrate formation reactors where simulated based on the experimental data presented in literature for hydrate formation from flue gas stream. Process simulations were performed in the absence of hydrate promoter and in the presence of hydrate promoters. Selected hydrate promoters were THF and a blend of TBAB+DTAC. A counter current membrane flow scheme was applied to perform further CO2 removal from gaseous streams. Membrane modeling was performed by finite difference method for a typical asymmetric hollow fiber cellulose acetate based membrane. The simulation results show that the required duty is mainly consumed in compressors and coolers. It is observed that using hydrate promoters reduce the required compression power considerably. The results reveal that THF is the best promoter with lowest required duty and total membrane area.
