چکیده مقاله:

Increasing demand for fuel in industrial and powerhouses requires more analysis and research on the transportation techniques. A particular method of interest in transporting fuel is marine pipeline. One of the most important factors in choosing the position of oil transferring pipelines in the vicinity of seabed slopes or trenches is the angle of trench and its efficacy on pipelines. In this paper, the potential equation is solved by implementation of finite difference numerical scheme and the flow velocity and pressure field subject to different trench slopes have been calculated and some results have been deducted. In the cases analyzed in this paper the pipe diameter is 2 m , its elevation from seabed is 2 m, the distance between the pipe and the trench is 1 m and the slopes vary from 30 to 60 degree with step of 10 . Based on the numerical finding , it has been deduced that the trench slope does not affect the maximum pressure on the pipe, but disturbs the symmetry of the pressure distribution causing a resulting force on the pipe, while it can control the sediment wash. Most important hydrodynamic outcome can be the fact that a flat seabed is not necessarily the best situation for laying a pipe and that the presence of a trench could be instrumental.
