Quality Control of Reservoir Fluid Composition Data: A New Approach via Solubility Parameter

The precise description of reservoir fluid is essential for petroleum reservoir evaluation and optimal oilfield development strategies. The most serious concern associated with fluid phase behavior modeling is the accuracy of the reservoir fluid composition data used as an input into reservoir simulators. In this work, a unified approach is developed to resolve the uncertainties in reservoir fluid composition using solubility parameter of live oil. The solubility parameter of 4 live oil samples from different Iranian oil reservoirs are used for sensitivity analysis with respect to the molecular weight of plus fraction to check the accuracy of the fluid composition data. This approach provides a new insight into consistency and reliability of fluid composition data which is expected to be highly beneficial to the quality and accuracy of the phase behavior prediction of petroleum fluids.
