AN INTEGRATED SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENT FOR POWER SYSTEM OPERATIONS ANALYSIS

This paper describes OPERA, an integrated software environment for power system operations analysis and prototyping of new applications at PG&E. It is a uniform integration of a relational database management system (RDBMS), graphics, application program interfaces, and utilities, developed to improve the productivity of analysts and applications developers. This software is now in production use, and is installed on networks of workstations at several operations and planning departments.
