This paper presents a new method for deriving the magnetizing characteristic of power transformers by the use of the inrush currentwave form.
A storage oscilloscope is used to record the actual inrush current. Then a magnetizing curve is assumed for the Transformer.According to this assumption the inrush current is computed and compared with the actual one . A trial and error procedure is followed to adjust the initial assumption until the difference between the actual and computed waveforms is acceptable.A software has been developed for computing and plotting the inrush current.
