As shared right-of-way and utility corridor practices becomes more and more common, AC currents & lightning influence on personal safety and corrosion control of water and gas pipes systems, becomes of more and more concern. This paper presents guidelines and procedures for use during design, construction, operation and maintenance of water and gas pipes for reduction of AC current effects due to coupling between
AC transmission lines and adjacent pipelines. more investigations such as modeling, simulation and field experiences should provide additional information in future papers.
