This paper describes the implementation of a new hybrid condition monitoring method based on pattern classification and expert system techniques. The necessity to use data from observations, shallow and deep knowledge from domain experts and other knowledge resources to establish a database for expert system and neural network techniques to solve the problem are also highlighted. The data is processed to obtain condition diagnosis indicators which are the product of the system.
