Intelligent Network Reconfiguration Technique for Service Restoration in Distribution Networks

The distribution systems are operated normally in a radial fashion, so, fault occurrence in a section of distribution systems causes load disconnection. To ensure a reliable operation of a distribution ystem, It is important to restore power to all the customers rapidly on the occurrence of a fault. Whenever a fault occurs, the following actions are required to be taken:
• Fault isolation.
• Service restoration.
• Fault repair.
• Restoration to a normal state.
In this paper by use of heuristic methods, fuzzy information theory and Network reduction techniques an efficient method for load restoration is presented. In the proposed method not only load and Network constraints but also minimization of switching actions is considered.The test results on a typical distribution network show the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.
