A survey of local hydro Power plants on the topic of draft tube surges in Francis turbine was undertaken and the results of this survey are included in this paper. The draft tube surge phenomenon, the source of disturbing force in draft tube, amplification of the basic disturbance by resonance and the remedies for draft tube surges problems are also described in this paper.
