چکیده مقاله:

The aim of this study was to explore the type of Interactional Resources of Hyland's interpersonal metadiscourse (MD) used in papers by native male and female students. The twenty students including 10 males and 10 females aged between 19 -28 who have been studying in United States were selected. Papers were collected and were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Data was analyzed quantitatively in the result section and discussed qualitatively in discussion and conclusion sections. Findings showed that female native students employed the type of Interactional Resources of Hyland's interpersonal metadiscourse (MD) that is boosters, more than male native students in their writing. This article also argues that Hyland’s categorization of metadiscourse, as a significant analytical framework in discourse analysis, offers a promising application in exploring interpersonal and textual meaning of language.
