چکیده مقاله:

Music and songs play a significant role in motivating students to learn English. They can support the development of learners’ ability in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as provide opportunities for learning pronunciation, rhythm, grammar and vocabulary (Lo & Li, 1998). Songs have a place in the classroom for helping create that friendly and co-operative atmosphere for language learning, but they can offer much more, songs are effective tools in education. (Veronika ,2007). Murphey showed that first the melody and then the lyrics from the songs get stuck and stored in memory until needed for a specific context. Therefore, he believed that songs positively influence learners’ long and short-term memory (Cited inVeronika, 2007). According to Razmjoo (2012), songs have rhythmic and melodic content representing a specific form of communication in a linguistic sense. He suggests that the use of songs in the foreign language classrooms reflects the inherent rhythmic nature of life.
