SYNTHESIS OF BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE AS A CONTROLLER OF BIOCORROSION IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRIES

Benzalkonium chloride is a cationic surfactant that is used as a controller of biocorrosion and enhanced oil extraction through de-emulsification and sludge breaking in oil and gas industries. The common industrial method for synthesis of this compound is the reaction of benzyl chloride withdimethyl lauramine, but reported methods are hard and unsuitable for industrial synthesis. In this article optimized condition for synthesis of this compound and analytical methods of raw material and product is reported
