چکیده مقاله:

This study is a significant endeavour in promoting relationship between exoticism in two famous poems of Romanticism and Dark Romanticism. In this regards, we will consider the meaning and the major tendencies of these movements and also will point out that exoticism and journey are important themes in these literary movements. Meanwhile, the meaning of imagination, dream and exoticism will clarify through the Coleridge's poems and the main trends will discuss in Kubla Khan. In the third part, we will mention the influence of Coleridge on the Poe's literary philosophy as well as Poe's works and also will trace the exoticism through The City in the Sea. In the last part, the similarities in the theme and images in both poems will consider as well. Through this study, we will find out that the dream is a path to the journey and the internal or external journey to the consciousness or unconsciousness is an exotic characteristic of Romanticism and Dark Romanticism.
