چکیده مقاله:

Baby Halder, an Indian woman who published her autobiography, seems to be a testimonio writer. Testimonio is a Spanish word, equivalent for English testimony , derived from Latin testis . The beginning of testimonio goes back to the early 1800s and Latin American countries extending up to the modern era. Testimonio is coincident with universality. Every work of literature with characteristics of testimonio in all over the globe may be considered testimonio. This research attempts to specify the role of education in Halder’s only novel, A Life Less Ordinary, which seems to fulfil the characteristics and elements of testimonio in which education plays the most important or at least an outstanding role in testimonio works of literature. The methodology of this research is library based. Education is one of themes of the novel. All through the novel, the concept of education is achieved. Education is one of testimonio characteristics; moreover, it is the only way out of misery for Halder. So, despite of the continuous disillusionments, Halder is interested in education from beginning to the end of the novel. Indian culture is a male-dominant and patriarchal culture. So, education is the first matter that women are deprived of it. Education is the origin of the metamorphosis occured in the novel
