Translation has always been a way of communication among different cultures since the ancient time. Among different types of translation, it seems that translation of poetry poses many problems in the field of translation studies caused by the difference between two linguistic and cultural systems. The language of an epic poetry subjected to this study had been enriched by the figure of hyperbole and translators have applied certain strategies in order to convey it in translation product. Among these strategies, domestication and foreignization were two cultural ones that this research intended to focus. Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh was determined as the case of this study and through the analysis of the selected samples; the researcher pinpointed the strategies and their different procedures which have been used in two translations of hyperbole in Shahnameh by Alexander Rogers and Warner brothers. The result of the study showed that the applicable procedures of domestication strategy in translations of hyperbole in Shahnameh were mainly interpretation, cultural equivalent, deletion, approximation, addition and adaptation. In foreignization strategy, the translators used the procedures of loan word translation and literal translation. The findings of the present study also indicate that both translations of Shahnameh had a target culture-oriented process
