چکیده مقاله:

For many years , the traditional teaching method of English language such as Grammer translation has dominated the teaching and learning environment in Iran. This is a reason why ministery of Education and traning needs to innovate by applying the communicate approach in Iranian classrooms.Oral fluency and accuracy are the most important goals of communication. One of the main problems of learners in foreign language classes is related to the issue that many learners ,even advanced ones, lack fluency and accuracy. To this end, The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of classroom presentation on high school students’fluency and accuracy. The participants of this study were 60 intermediate EFL pre-university students who study English at one of Khoramabad’s high school and pre-universities. They were selected non –randomly by administering a general English placement test ((Interchange Placement Test , Third Edition –Cambridge University Press 2005, to over 90 EFL students in order to make sure that the participants were homogeneous . They were divided into three groups , one class as experimental group1(n=20), one class as experimental 2(n=20) and other one as control group (n=20) . Every week two graduate students come to the classroom to give scores to the presentations of the students .In effect the first group(experimental1)was taught in order to give a 10 minute oral presentation on the themes of their book ; The second group (control group) just went through traditional teaching method by the teacher .Finally the third group (experimental group 2) as experimental 1 gave a 10minute presentation along with a 5 minute discussion with their classmates and teacher. In order to see if classroom presentation has significant effect on increasing fluency and accuracy the oral test as pretest and posttest(oral test question banks taken from Cambridge University Press 2010) was administered twice. The students performances were transcribed by three raters(two graduate students and the researcher). The scoring Rubric adapted from Weir (1990) was used along with the scoring sheet for the purpose of grading .The grading of linguistic competence of oral test and presentations was based upon five criteria : (1)appropriateness (20%) , (2) adequacy of vocabulary for purpose (20%) , (3) grammatical accuracy (20%) ,(4) intelligibility (20%) , and (5) fluency (20%). . ANOVA statistic was used to compare differences and similarities among groups. The results provided evidence that classroom presentation helps to enhance significantly high school students’fluency and accuracy
