چکیده مقاله:

traffic between two crossing roads is a signalized intersection. Red light violationis the basic principle in traffic accidental subjects, which is occurred at signalizedintersection and T-junction when one driver passes stopping sing after signal hasturned to red from yellow, which is also called as RLR. Therefore, there is a vitalneed to expand our understanding of motorists' behavior resulting fromincursions with the solid yellow indication at signalized T-junction. Findingfactors make obvious different reaction and decision making by driversparticularly motorcyclists while they cross at different directions of T-junctionthat causes high numbers of red light running. Purposes of this research study areto find influential variables of the motorists’ behavior and their reactions againstthe signal change interval at major road of T-junction as well as studying abouteffect of geometric design of T-junction in both directions. In addition observingeffect of day and night time on driver’s reaction is explored technically. Binarylogit model is employed to do the regression analysis because of their ability torepresent the complex aspects of the RLR and the effect of importantdemographic and socio-economic variables on it. This study conducted rate ofdoing RLR at onset yellow time for all types of vehicle is increased by changinglocation of T-junction from open side to close side. According to results, rate ofdoing RLR by motorcycle in Malaysia at both open and close directions arefound very high. Moreover, it displayed in terms of lane position left lane atclose side direction that is critical lane due to making sense of safe feeling fordrivers to pass junction. Furthermore, numbers of doing RLR at both day andnight time are improved at close side comparing open side. The results concludedrate of RLR at both directions at closest section is 0 due to passing junctionlegally. Moreover, at close side numbers of doing RLR at third and last zones aregreater than second zone, which displays higher tendency of drivers to passjunction by increasing speed. While at open side, all zones have same effect onRLR.
