One of the operational strategies for efficient and effective movement of publictransport is Transit Signal Priority (TSP), which has shown potential capacity toimprove public transport performance by means of transit reliability, reducingdelays at signalized intersections and also operational cost. However, it should benoted that choosing the efficient TSP strategy is highly dependent on a number offactors such as the current traffic signal control system, the overall trafficsituation, characteristic of intersection for turning movements and publictransport stop locations. Therefore, it will justify the evaluation of differentapproaches of priority strategies in a particular case study. On the other hand, asuccessful deployment of TSP systems requires a modeling of the real conditionand a thorough evaluation prior to field implementation. This study providesevaluation of potential benefits of implementing Transit Signal Priority duringAM and PM traffic peak hours at an intersection in the city of Vienna. Toaccurately model the case study, the microscopic traffic simulation model,VISSIM, is used. After running the simulation, the results with regard to traveltime are illustrated using graphical charts to choose the appropriate strategy.
