Fabrication of Sol-Gel Derived Mesoporous Titanium Dioxide Powder Utilizing Copolymer Template and Evaluation of Its Performance in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell

In the current study, at the outset, mesoporous titania powder was synthesized by means of evaporation induced self-assembly (EISA) technique and using F127 copolymer as a structural directing agent. Subsequent stages consisted of fabrication, plus deposition of titania paste followed by heat treatment. Based on X-ray diffraction (XRD) results, it can be observed that synthesized powder comprises high percentage of anatase phase and small amount of rutile phase. Moreover, field emission electron microscopy image illustrates that a structure with narrow size distribution is constructed. N2 adsorption-desorption analysis affirms formation of mesoporous structure with Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation surface area of 114 m2/gr. Ultimately, the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC), created by mesoporous TiO2 films in two forms of monolayer and doublelayer indicated power conversion efficiency of 5.53% and 6.15% respectively.
