Vapor liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the ternary systems hexane – benzene, hexane – cyclohexane , benzene – cyclohexane and 1hexen– cyclohexane with an ionic liquid as entrainer for extractive distillation were measured by headspace gas chromatography. The ionic liquid 1methyl 3octylimidazolium thiocyanate [Omim][SCN] was used. The comparison of the experimental data with the equilibrium data for the binarymixtures without ionic liquid show that the[Omim][SCN] improve significantly the separation factor of these systems.
