خلاصه مقاله:
Over the last few decades, non-point source (NPS) pollution has grown into a global environmental issue. Sedimentation and nutrient loadings are identifies as more common and major contributor of NPS pollution. The Annualised Agricultural Non-point Source pollutant model (AnnAGNPS) is a watershed modeling tool to predict runoff, peak flow, sediment loading and nutrient loading. The present study aimed to evaluate the performance of AnnAGNPS under Malaysian condition and to introduce the model as a long – term watershed monitoring system in the country . study reveled runoff prediction showed good correlation between observed and predicted data for both watershed , sediment loading prediction was of moderate quality while of nitrogen and phosphorus loading was very poor. It was found that main contributor to erosion are rubber estates and urban areas it was believed that data limitation and methodology of technical processes were the main factors contributing to error in predictions. This study found the model was poor in predicting lower short term events, but could do reasonably well to estimate long term pollution such as soil erosion. It was strongly believed that with better calibration and acquisition of reliable data, the model could be used as a watershed management tool in Malaysia.
