Generator circuit-breakers are widely used in power plants nowadays because they offer many advantages when compared to the unit connection such as lower first costs, simplified operational procedures, better fault protection and hence a higher power plant availability. The paper deals with the economic aspects of generator circuit-breaker application and the positive impact of the use of generator circuit-breakers on power plant availability.
