Insulators are being used for transmission of Power from generating stations not only to major load centres over long distance transmission lines but also to the distribution centres. Disc insulators plays a very important role in reliable and qualitative performance of any EHT line.Ceramic; disc insulators are in use in Madhya Pradesh (India) since early sixties.when first 66KV lines were commissioned. Indepth field studies have been done by MPEB engineers and qualitative improvement in the design material and manufacturing process of the discs have been achieved leading to minimisation of failure rate of disc insulators.
