The need for a fast and reliable load flow technique to evaluate a large number of line outages in power networks has long been appreciated It is particularly necessary for proper planning and operation of power systems. This paper presents a reliable , fast and nonlinear technique to evaluate the effect of line outages on system voltages . The proposed method modifies the load flow equations so that only polynomial terms are retained . This method is highly efficient for the solution of extra high voltage as well as distribution networks. The technique has 'been tested and its capabilities validated by digital simulation studies on the standard lEEE 57 bus test system.
