Due to the limitation of the test facilities and power sources in the RV laboratory, the tests of the shunt reactors at rated voltage always are not possible, therefore normally the tests are performed at reduced voltages. In the extremely small range of the power factor of shunt reactors, measurement of the losses, inductances and tan D is only possible with the bridge to obtain sufficient accuracy of -+2% . The two methods of calorimetric and bridge are recommended by IEC standard No. 214, shunt reactors. In this paper the bridge method for measurement of the cumulative losses, inductance and tan D is introduced. In this method, the phase displacement angle of the components used in the measuring circuit is included in the measurement result. The tan D value has to be corrected on the basis of the attested phase angle. Angle displacement of the decade capacitor is very low with result that has no effect on the measurement results. In this method by calculations, the measured values can be corrected. The measured inductance values and thus the XD values have high degree of accuracy.
