Most impulse generators for lightning simulation are designed for rise time of 1 to 2 microseconds and because of inherent generator resistance and inductance can not readily achieve the faster rise time. In practice shorter rise times are difficult to achieve. In this paper we describe method and results of fast fronted current tests that have done on arresters.
